Congratulations on making the decision to declutter your home! However, I understand
that the next step can be overwhelming – what to do with all the items you no longer
need? It’s not uncommon to feel stressed in this situation, but don’t let it take away from
the relief you feel after decluttering. In this blog post, we’ll explore some tips and ideas
for managing the excess items and making the most out of your newly organized space.
1: Turn Your Trash into Someone Else’s Treasure
Through Donation
If you’re looking for a more personal and fulfilling way to declutter your items, consider
using the Facebook site Buy Nothing. This platform is tailored to your local area and
allows you to directly connect with people who are excited to receive your unwanted
items. Not only will you be able to witness the joy of someone else benefitting from your
belongings, but you’ll also be reducing your own stress by finding a meaningful way to
part with them. Donating to a goodwill-type location may be easy, but the satisfaction of
giving directly to someone in need cannot be beat.
2: Score Some Extra Cash by Selling Strategically
Person or Online
If you have items that you are not comfortable donating there are other options.
Facebook market place is one place but you need to be extra careful and never give out
your phone number. I always ask to use facebook messenger and let them know
upfront I prefer cash. If you are in the Ashburn/Leesburg area, my favorite place to
shop as well as donate is 529 Consign. It has high quality kids clothes as well as
womens. They inspect each item before they will agree to consign it. I love their
dedication to detail. ANd I always get some great deals on Tea collection and Mini
Boden!
3: Rest Easy as You Rid Your Space Responsibly
If you have items that you are not comfortable donating, there are other options
available. Facebook marketplace is one such option, although you should exercise
caution and avoid giving out your phone number. Instead, opt to use Facebook
messenger and make it clear upfront that you prefer cash transactions. For those in the
Ashburn and Leesburg Virginia area, 529 kids Consign Loudoun is a highly
recommended place to shop and consign. They offer high-quality children’s and
women’s clothing, and each item is thoroughly inspected before being consigned. Their
attention to detail is impressive, and you can find some great deals on brands like Tea
Collection and Mini Boden.
Great job on successfully decluttering and getting motivated! Remember, donating your
items is a great way to give back to your community and help others in need and they
should not add stress once you have decluttered.
